Code: Windows® 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB (ESD)

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB is an early long-term servicing branch release for dedicated devices. It is intended for embedded computers, terminals and industrial systems requiring a consistent feature set.

    Manufacturer
  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB (ESD) is the very first industrial branch of the Windows 10 operating system (released alongside the initial version of Windows 10 in 2015—version 1507). It was developed as a direct successor to the popular Windows Embedded system, designed for specialized, fixed-purpose devices such as ATMs, industrial control stations, medical equipment, and POS terminals.

It is important to note that the term "LTSB" (Long-Term Servicing Branch) used in this version is the predecessor to the current "LTSC" designation; both refer to the same long-term, stable support channel. "ESD" (Electronic Software Delivery) indicates that the license is delivered digitally via email, providing an electronic activation key. Regarding the product lifecycle: official extended support for this operating system ended on October 14, 2025. This means that Microsoft no longer provides new security patches or technical support for this version.

Key advantages of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB:

    • Exceptional "lightness" and low resource requirements. As the earliest version of Windows 10, it has the lowest hardware requirements of any member of the Windows 10/11 IoT family. It performs excellently on older-generation, low-power industrial computers equipped with only 2 GB of RAM and small-capacity hard drives.
    • Completely stripped of consumer-oriented software ("bloatware"). This version of the system is heavily "trimmed"—it lacks the Microsoft Store, Cortana, Xbox apps, and the Edge browser (featuring the classic IE instead), as well as any consumer games or entertainment software. The system is designed to function as a technical tool rather than a personal computer.
    • A stable, static environment. Throughout the system's lifecycle, no functional updates or user interface changes were introduced. This allowed companies to create a single software image and deploy it across thousands of devices without any compatibility risks.
    • A classic industrial "lockdown" suite. The system includes all the essential tools required for autonomous device operation: Unified Write Filter (UWF), Assigned Access, and Unbranded Boot.
