Windows® 11 IoT Enterprise Value for ARM64 (ESD)
Code: Windows® 11 IoT Enterprise Value for ARM64 (ESD)Ordered itemWindows 11 IoT Enterprise Value for ARM64 is designed for compatible ARM64-based dedicated devices. It can be used in industrial and IoT solutions.
Manufacturer-
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Value for ARM64 (ESD) is a specialized version of the operating system designed for compact, energy-efficient devices powered by ARM64-architecture processors (such as Qualcomm Snapdragon or certain NXP i.MX platforms).
This specific license designation consists of three key components:
- Value. This refers to a mid-tier pricing level, which, within the Microsoft IoT model, is tied to the processing power of the device’s CPU. The "Value" license applies to mid-range processors, offering a significantly lower price point compared to the "High-End" version.
- ARM64. The operating system is compiled specifically for ARM processors, rather than for the traditional x86/x64 (Intel/AMD) architecture.
- ESD (Electronic Software Delivery): A digital licensing method where an electronic activation key (ePKEA) is provided via email, facilitating rapid deployment in industrial manufacturing or testing environments.
Key advantages of the "Value for ARM64" version:
- Maximum energy efficiency and low heat generation. ARM64 processors consume drastically less power than x86 processors. This enables the development of industrial devices—such as POS terminals, smart displays, and controllers—that utilize passive cooling (fanless design). These devices do not overheat, operate silently, consume less electricity, and are significantly more resistant to dust and other environmental factors found in industrial settings.
- Full functional parity with the x64 version. Despite running in an ARM environment, the system offers the exact same industrial-grade management features as the standard x64 version of Windows 11 IoT Enterprise. It includes the same industrial toolset: the Unified Write Filter (UWF) protects the system drive against wear and viruses (all changes are discarded upon device reboot), while Kiosk Mode / Restricted User Experience allows for the complete lockdown of a device to run only one or several specific applications.
- x86 and x64 application emulation (backward compatibility). The system features advanced built-in emulation technology. This means your device can run standard x86 and x64 applications without the need to rewrite or re-code the software specifically for the ARM architecture. This facilitates the seamless migration of legacy control applications to new, more cost-effective ARM-based hardware.
- Long-term lifecycle (LTSC option). This system is based on the LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) platform, which guarantees up to 10 years of stable security support from Microsoft, with no forced updates to the user interface or functionality. Devices remain secure and predictable throughout their entire operational lifespan.
